Washington Post wrapping paper contest

The Washington Post revealed the 12 finalists for their annual Holiday Wrapping Paper Contest, with 3 from each age group (6 and under; 7-8 years; 9-10 years; 11-12 years). I’m impressed by the creativity, attention to detail, and that they all adhere to the basic rules of designing wrapping paper: they create a pattern, are dark enough to hide what’s being wrapped, and are fun and exciting enough to make you quiver with anticipation at what’s inside! (Plus, I would totally buy these)

To see all the finalists and vote on your favorites (go Team Cupcake!) go here. The winning design will be featured in the Weekend section of The Post on December 17 as a sheet of gift wrap. Voting ends at 11:59pm Sunday, December 5.

There will also be an opportunity to vote, register for prizes, and get crafty making your own paper, cards, etc. at a community party at The Post’s offices. Info: Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010  |  1150 15th St NW  |  11am-2pm. Register for this event at washingtonpost.com/postfun
