Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Power Lunch Back-to-School Giveaway
That title’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Yet it’s certainly befitting my epic team-up with fellow Dad Blogger and Lunchtime Super Power, Lunchbox Dad! We’re serving up some fun and creative ways to prepare school lunches — plus a ginormous giveaway to help you make lunchtime awesome!
One of the unexpected perks of blogging has been all of the interesting, talented and just downright nice people I’ve met. Whether online or hanging out in real life, I’ve found support and inspiration from so many of my dad blogging bros. One whose creativity I’ve admired for a while is Beau Coffron, AKA Lunchbox Dad. Check out his web site or Instagram to see what I mean — he puts so much fun and imagination into the meals he makes for his kids. It’s a scrumptious sight to behold!
I had the pleasure of meeting Beau in person at a conference in July. While we were there, we did some brainstorming over beer and Happy Meals for ways to combine our lunch-related passions into a cool giveaway for our readers.
We settled on everyone’s favorite half-shelled heroes, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I was a little old for their first iteration, but I remember my younger brothers running around the house, singing the theme song, turning toys into nunchucks or throwing stars, and generally going ninja on every piece of furniture in the house. Well, the Turtles keep making comeback after comeback, including a new film released earlier this summer and a great animated version on Nickelodeon. And so now my son is the one singing the theme song, turning toys into weapons and going ninja on anything that doesn’t move (and some that do).
THE CREATIONS:
THE LUNCH: Lunchbox Dad did what he does best and created this awesomely yummy-looking Ninja Turtles lunch featuring Michelangelo, a mini pizza and a pile of foot soldiers — minions of Shredder! Go check out Beau’s post to see how to make this super-powered spread for your own hungry ninjas.
THE LUNCH NOTES: I whipped up a set of four SuperLunchNotes, with the only materials I’ve ever used — Post-It Notes and Sharpies. I did one for each of the masters of the Italian Renaissance crime-fighting turtles, and these actual notes will be included in the giveaway!
THE PRIZES:
• $50 Toys R Us Gift Card
• EcoLunchbox Solo Cube
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Powersound FX Raphael Action Figure
• Set of 12 Sharpie Fine Point Permanent Markers
• Post-It Super Sticky Notes, Pack of 7 Pads
• 4 hand-drawn (by me!) SuperLunchNotes featuring the Ninja Turtles
Contest ends at 11:59 PST this Sunday, September 14. Enter the little widget thingie below — multiple ways to enter!

Parker’s favorite is Leonardo because he’s the leader. And you know how 5 year olds are…”I wanna be the leader”
This was a great idea Brent and Beau!
My oldest boy loves Leonardo…but only because he’s ‘The Leader’.
My youngest is usually Raphael when they play. Probably because Raph is usually the one who is challenging Leo’s leadership.
Ahhh sibling rivalries. 😀
Full disclosure, TheBoy (6) is not a TMNT fan. Why not? Well, because they’re not ponies named Twilight Sparkle, or Pinkie Pie, etc… However, he digs lunch notes, and I know he has classmates (and teachers) that would dig these. He’d probably like the gift card too. 😉 HisDad would like a new set o’ Sharpies for realz.
I applaud your embracing of the Brony Dad status. Maybe if you win, the Raphael action figure and the Ponies can become pals.
Both my boys love Ninja Turtles. The whole family has to get in the action when they call my husband Master Splinter and me April (or decide I get to be one of the turtles.)
My son likes Mikey, because he’s funny and gets to use nunchucks. My daughter however, thinks Donadello is the coolest because “me makes stuff”.
You guys teaming up was only a matter of time. I’m glad to see you’re using your powers for good, not evil. So far, anyway. My daughter loves Mikey because he’s kind of goofy (I think like me). My son likes Raf, I don’t remember why.
He probably likes Raphael because he wears red and uses the pokey things. 😉
Now that’s the real dynamic duo. Good luck, all.
Thanks Mike! 🙂
BUT WHO’S YOUR FAVORITE TURTLE, DAMMIT?!?!?
Mikey because he loves the color orange!
I was also a little old for the early ’90s iteration, but for some reason really dug it. The Little Dude is just getting into the new version, so another nostalgia trip is in process.
michealangelo and my daughter has this funny cliche she is always repeating after him
BOO-YA-KASHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is rapidly replacing Cowabunga. I was against it at first, but It’s growing on me!
It was funny, when I first wrote “Cowabunga” in relation to the TMNT for this post, I knew it had been associated with them, but was also thinking, “Wait, isn’t this a Bart Simpson thing?!?” 🙂
And I like “Boo-ya-kasha,” but it seems a little too rasta for the Turtles. 😉
My Child’s favorite Ninja Turtle is Donatello because he has always been my favorite, ever since I was a child myself. Who am I kidding, I’m still a big damn kid.
my sons favorite is Leonardo im not sure why though and he is at school so I cant ask
Michelangelo has always been my favorite b/c I loved playing with nunchucks and he’s the funny guy…err, turtle.
Favourites in this house is Raphael.
My kids love Donatello!! My daughter loves the purple mask 🙂
Oh man, I love that you guys are doing this! I have two nieces and two nephews, all of whom are currently too young for school, but I’ve already introduced them all to the (classic) Ninja Turtles. I’ve even busted out some of my old toys for them! Eventually, I hope the four of them form their OWN little Ninja team, and I already know which one is going to be Leonardo, because she’s a tough cookie!
My Son and I love Michaelangelo .
Raphael is the winner in our house!
Donatello is my fav, he wears purple, uses a staff and is a scientist.
I don’t know why but his favorite is definitely Raphael.
Michaelangelo! Duh! Cause he’s hilarious!
My son says he likes Michaelangelo the best because he is so funny.
I grew up with TMNT and as the youngest of five was kind of on my own in the turtle love. Fast forward to today and my oldest is all ninja turtles all the time, the new and old cartoon, the old live action movies, toys, bubble wands, legos.
I couldn’t be happier.
His favorite is Leo but he has a soft spot for Karai in the new cartoon show.
Totally forgot Leo and Karai because of their swords, he has one og those plastic ones you get from the arcade and he will fight right along side Leo, it’s awesome.
my grandsons love Michelangelo because he loves pizza just like they do 😉
Michaelangelo is a favorite in our house because he’s goofy.
We like Michaelangelo because hes funny
Oh I would have to say his favorite is probably Michaelangelo! He always makes him laugh!
My kid likes Leo – but i think its based on color and an easy name
